Chinese Foreign Minister held meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov
Wang Yi, member of the State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
Sergey Lavrov wished every success for the 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, expressing confidence that China will continue to make new and greater achievements in nation building.
According to him, the Russian side is ready to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries during the SCO summit in Samarkand and tirelessly promote bilateral practical cooperation.
China's President Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative are very important, they will unite efforts of the international community to promote peace, development, equality and justice in the world, which the Russian side highly appreciates and actively supports, the Russian foreign minister said. He also expressed hope that the two countries would strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional organizations such as the UN, SCO and BRICS.
Wang Yi said the two leaders held an important meeting in Samarkand and reached a new consensus, which pointed to the direction of developing inter-state relations. China is ready to cooperate with Russia for comprehensive and effective implementation of the important consensus of the heads of state.
"As permanent members of the UN Security Council and responsible powers, China and Russia have a proper role to play," the Chinese diplomat stressed. Both sides should deepen strategic interaction, qualitatively promote business cooperation, actively participate in global governance, work together to solve global problems and promote the development of the international order in a more just and reasonable direction, as reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
