India celebrates 76th Independence Day
India is ready to celebrate its 76th Independence Day on 15 August. This day commemorates India's independence from the Great Britain.
Narendra Modi wrote on social network: "Greetings on this very special Independence Day!" The Prime Minister will hoist the Indian flag 'Tiranga' at the iconic Red Fort in New Delhi. This will be Prime Minister's ninth Independence Day address to the nation from the Red Fort, as reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, the Prime Minister will be received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt and Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar.
The General Officer Commanding (GoC) Delhi Area, Lieutenant General Vijay Kumar Mishra, will then conduct PM Narendra Modi to the saluting base where a combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard will present a general salute to the Prime Minister. Thereafter, the Prime Minister will inspect the Guard of Honour.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has congratulated Indian President Draupadi Murma and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 76th Independence Day, as was published on the Kremlin website.
"India-Russia relations have been evolving in the spirit of particularly privileged strategic partnership. Moscow and New Delhi successfully cooperate in a wide range of areas and interact effectively within the UN, BRICS, SCO and other multilateral structures."

He added: "I am confident that through our joint efforts we will continue to build up the whole range of our productive interstate relations for the good of our friendly peoples and in the interests of strengthening security and stability at the regional and global levels."
India's Independence Day has been celebrated since 1947 to commemorate the country's independence from the Great Britain.
