18th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates announces programme of the event
The 18th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates will be held from 12 to 14 December in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.
The programme of the Summit includes a wide range of different activities such as panel discussions with Nobel Peace Laureates, forums, Nobel consultations and culture activities on peace that will be introduced to the audience at this year’s edition.

Among confirmed speakers for this event are Nobel Peace Laureates:
Shirin Ebadi, first Iranian jurist and the first Muslim woman ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize; Tawakkol Karman, Yemen human rights activist; Leymah Gbowee, the most committed peace activist of Liberia, Kailash Satyarthi, children's rights activist from India.
Оther high level international and local speakers will also attend the event.
An important part of the Summit is an extensive Youth programme “Leading by Example” that will put a special emphasis on peace culture and bridge-building role of youth. More than 220 students from Korea and the globe are expected to participate this year.
President of the Permanent Secretariat of the Summit Ekaterina Zagladina stated “We hope that the Summit will contribute to peace dialogue on both local and global level. The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates has been for many years a platform for inspiration and fruitful collaboration for people of different backgrounds.”
The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates was created by late Nobel Peace Laureate, Mikhail Gorbachev in 1999 with clear objectives to contribute to world peace through Nobel Peace Prize winners. It has been, for more than 20 years, a meeting point for social, business and political leaders, as well as members of civil society who wish to participate in the peace-building process.
