A new coronavirus vaccination point opened in the Red Square in Moscow

It occupies several premises in GUM

A coronavirus vaccination point was opened in the Red Square in Moscow. It occupies several premises in GUM, Moscow’s oldest mall. Visitors are welcomed by social workers who help them orient themselves and tell them the rules of the procedure.

“The feedback we received, especially in the first days, has exceeded our expectations because people were enormously pleased. We meet them at the very outset, help them, and guide them throughout the entire procedure. As a result, people receive answers to any questions they might have had regarding the vaccination process,” said Pavel Khlopin, head of the civilian personnel department at the vaccination centre.

To ensure there are no questions or complaints afterwards, visitors are provided with doctors’ consultations. There are more than 30 vaccination slots in the main vaccination hall. Behind each one there is a doctor and a specialist from Multifunctional Public Services Center, who registers visitors’ data on the computer. The centre has the capacity to vaccinate up to 5,000 people a day.

“In order to be vaccinated, one needs to have a Russian passport. Or a passport of another state, plus Compulsory Medical Insurance certificate. It is desirable that the patient has the certificate and Individual Insurance Account Number, so that information is displayed correctly in the system,” said Andrei Tyazhelnikov, chief physician of Moscow Outpatient Clinic №121.

Experts note that it is the smooth organization that allows for the vaccination of thousands of people at the station. Visitors can walk right through the location: the entrance is separated from the exit. People aged 65 and older receive gifts from city authorities.

The gift set includes 150 medical masks, cosmetics, as well as a blood pressure monitor and a blood oxygen measuring device. All visitors, regardless of age, get a sweet surprise — an ice cream. Soon, a new service will be available: free coronavirus express testing.

The tests will be available in a nearby room. All the necessary works will be finished there soon. The COVID-19 vaccination point is open every day from 10 am to 10 pm.
