A new translation of "Eugene Onegin" in Portuguese is presented in Brazil

In Brazil, sales of “Eugene Onegin” start with a new poetic translation into Portuguese

In Brazil, sales of “Eugene Onegin” start with a new poetic translation into Portuguese, tvbrics.com reports with reference to TASS.

The presentation will take place in Sao Paulo on Thursday, June 6, timed to coincide with the 220th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin.

The book is a two-language publication. It includes the first four chapters of the novel by Pushkin. The second volume with the latest chapters and excerpts from Onegin's journey are planned to be published by the end of this year.

The translation of the novel in verse was prepared by Elena Vasina and Alipio Correyu de Frank Neto. The authors have worked on Portuguese text for about 10 years. The Brazilian translator of Russian classical literature Boris Shnaiderman also participated in the work - thanks to him, Latin American readers had already become acquainted with the prose of Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Gorky, Babel, and the verses of Pasternak and Mayakovsky.
