A series of programs about tourism “Durban has more” to be shown on Russian TV for the first time
TV BRICS International network and Web based entertainment channel Durban TV (South Africa) launch the first partner media project about travelling in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
A series of short travel films about Durban tourist features will be shown in Russian for the first time on June 1 at 21:00 (+3 GMT) on TV BRICS (Rostelecom, button 249). The films are dubbed by Omsk television company.
“Russians have a unique link to Durban and South Africa, as it was Russia who supported the Boers during their battle against British colonial forces during the South African Boer War. There is an African saying, "Once you visit Africa you never leave, because Africa will always stay with you" . If you want to really experience Africa, then Durban should be the place from which your journey begins”, - says Doreen Theys, Founder/Executive Producer of DUrbanTV.
South African produced films tell about the main natural, cultural and historical attractions of Durban and the province of KwaZulu-Natal. A series of programs consists of 5 episodes. Together with journalists from South Africa, Russian viewers will be able to travel through Durban Beachwood mangroves and watch crabs, see the unique exhibition of the National Museum of beading, take a tour to the Bergtheil local history museum and get acquainted with the history of settlement of local lands, visit The KwaMuhle Museum and learn about the apartheid regime in South Africa, as well as take a unique trip on a real steam train on an old railway.
“As one of South Africa's major beach holiday destinations Durban attracts local and international visitors alike to its modern facilities including the longest beachfront promenade in Africa. Its unique character comes from the multi-cultural people who call Durban home, mainly Zulu, Indian and Europeans, all descendants of King Shaka, the English and Dutch settlers and Indian migrant workers brought here during colonial times. Besides many exciting experiences in Durban itself, the city is also the gateway to our KwaZulu Natal region where visitors can explore our African wildlife, our ocean, our wilderness areas and mountain ranges. Here they will discover the real Zulu culture, re-imagine our past colonial history, and re-live our more recent political history” – says Doreen Theys, Founder/Executive Producer of DUrbanTV
A special TV screening of a series of programs about tourism in one of the most popular cities of the Republic of South Africa is on June 1 at 21:00 (+3 GMT) on TV BRICS (Rostelecom, button 249). Reruns are on June 2 at 11: 00 (+3 GMT) and on June 3 at 15:00 (+3 GMT).
