African governments make significant progress in the development of diamond sector

The results were possible by adhering to global best practices

The establishment of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) has brought about significant changes. This is reported by ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.

Zimbabwe, as chair of ADPA, brought together other African diamond-producing countries for a three-day conference in Harare to discuss progress made and challenges ahead.

Zimbabwe's diamond production has reached 6 million carats per annum, and the elimination of middlemen in the trade allows the country to get a fair price for its product. The Zimbabwean government aims to increase diamond production to 10 million carats per annum, which will increase the industry's revenue to US$3 billion.

African diamond-producing countries are showing determination and commitment to the sustainable development of the continent's diamond industry, which promises new opportunities for economic growth and prosperity.

The African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) is an intergovernmental organisation of leading diamond-producing nations.
