AMASI Inaugurates Advanced Surgical Training Centre at GEM Hospital
The institute has 2 world class labs
GEM Hospital, India’s premier Gastroenterology and laparoscopic speciality hospital, along with Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI)inaugurates “Minimal Access Surgery Training Institute (MASTI-C)”, an international standard training institute which provides comprehensive training to the entire team from surgeons & medical doctors to paramedical staffs, OT and CSSD technicians. India Medtronic Pvt Ltd has collaborated with AMASI to provide equipment for the training center to enable training for surgeons and enhance their skill set, as reported by Trinity Mirror, a partner of TV BRICS.
The inauguration of the training institute was heldin GEM Hospital Chennai in the gracious presence of our Chief Guest Dr. Abhay Dalvi, President -Association of Surgeons of India, and our Guests of Honour Dr.Pawaninder Lal, Director of National Board of Examinationsand Dr. K. Senthil, President – Tamilnadu Medical Council. Prashant Krishnan, Sr. Director and Head- Surgical, Patient Monitoring & ENT, Medtronic India and Dr. Jugindra, President -AMASI along with other Executive Council members participated in the event.
Commenting on the launch of MASTI-C, Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman – GEM Hospital, and Founder & President – AMASI said, “I am extremely proud to open “Minimal Access Surgery Training Institute atGEM Hospital Chennaiand to lead a team of experts. The institute has 2 world class labs – one for advanced laparoscopic training and another for various simulation which provides an ideal platform for trainees to hone their skills. The labs are equipped with world class infrastructure to enhance the learning experience.”
“The training module will have hands on experience in labs, one to one interaction, live demonstration, video-based education and interactive lectures from experienced faculties. To facilitate all these components, the centre has a 35-Seater Smart Classroom with state-of-the-art telecommunication facilities. The classroom is connected to all 9 Operating Rooms of GEM Hospital Chennai and 7 OTs of GEM Hospital Coimbatore through dedicated fiber link. This will enable the participants to learn surgeries at the highest level of clarity including 3D & 4K quality”, he further added.
