Argentina can contribute to the development of equestrian polo in Russia, says the Argentine ambassador to Russia
Eduardo Antonio Zuain, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the Russian Federation, notes that his country is gladly ready to develop equestrian polo in Russia, furthermore, all infrastructural and sporting components are available.
"The ultimate goal is to develop a partnership with Russian polo, to find forms of cooperation with Russian organisations that like the sport and of course to help with the organisation. Because polo is an Argentine sport, one of the sports with which we identify ourselves," said Eduardo Antonio Zuain.
The Ambassador noted that despite the fact that polo is not the easiest sport, it will undoubtedly find its adherents among Russians. Argentine specialists offer help and assistance not only in terms of organisation, but also in the training of players.
Through common sporting interests it is possible to bring together the people of Russia and Argentina, and cultural exchange will help to transfer Argentine culture, Argentine traditions and interests to Russia, which will contribute to strengthening ties between the peoples of our two countries.
Alejandro Ferro, one of the sports officials of Patagonia Beach Polo, confirmed that Russia has all the conditions to practise and promote the sport.
"We would like to invite you or your acquaintances who live in Argentina to attend a beach polo tournament that will be held in December in Patagonia. A similar event could be organised in Russia. We promote polo not only here but also in other countries. However, in Russia horse culture is very developed, there is a large territory, there are economic resources, so this sport can be successfully developed," said Ferro.
According to Ferro, nowadays Russia and Argentina have all the conditions for successful implementation of this interesting idea and for cooperation in equestrian polo.
Contrary to popular belief, polo in Argentina is not an elitist game, it does not require large investments to practise, he noted.
"Polo for us is about nature, horses, friendship. We play and after the game we just socialise," assured Ferro.
Equestrian polo is a team sport with a ball. Riders with special sticks must hit the opponent's goal, as in hockey or football. The game is popular not only in Argentina, but also in the UK, USA, India and other countries.
