Argentina celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Russian composer Rachmaninoff

The piano concert was preceded by the presentation of the exhibition "Sergei Rachmaninoff: I am a Russian composer"

The Argentine public gathered at the Juan Victoria Auditorium (San Juan province) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Russian composer and virtuoso pianist, one of the greatest representatives of modern classical music in the world, the pride of his country and a role model.

The piano concert was preceded by the presentation of the exhibition "Sergei Rachmaninoff: I am a Russian composer", based on the materials of the extensive archive of Rachmaninoff's works, donated at various times by his relatives and close friends to the Russian National Museum of Music. For half a century these documents have served as a source of research work aimed at studying Rachmaninoff's creative heritage.

The event was attended by Olga Muratova, Director of the Russian House in Buenos Aires, Jorge Lorenzo, President of the Foundation of Ideas for the Promotion of Equality (FIPPE), Virginia Agote, Minister of Culture of the Province of San Juan, and Ana Ines Aguirre, Head of the Piano Department of the Faculty of Philosophy, Humanities and Arts.

The event, organised by the Centre for Russian Science and Culture in Argentina (Casa Rusa) together with the FIPPE Foundation and the provincial cultural sponsor, was supported by TV BRICS, network partners BRICSLat and Ahora San Juan, and the Federation of Students of San Juan (FUSJ).

The exhibition was coordinated by Daniela Albares, member of FIPPE's Commission on Institutional Relations, and curated by Gabriel Saquilan Ruffa, editor-in-chief of BRICSLat.
