Brazil and Saudi Arabia move towards major port investment partnership
The country is set to launch over 40 port concessions in the next two years
Brazil is advancing strategic discussions with Saudi Arabia to attract new investments into its port sector, with global operators eyeing key infrastructure projects set for concession by 2026. This is reported by the government of Brazil.
Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, presented the country’s largest portfolio of port and waterway concession projects to Saudi Arabia's leading container terminal operators.
Costa Filho highlighted Brazil’s robust economic performance, with over 5 per cenr growth in the port sector in 2024 and an 18 per cent surge in container operations. He also underscored Brazil’s growing industrial and agribusiness sectors, positioning the country as an increasingly attractive hub for global trade.
Brazil is also set to launch over 40 port concessions in the next two years, covering solid and liquid bulk terminals, as well as key infrastructure for the mining sector.
According to the Brazilian government, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to port sector cooperation, the discussions signal a potential strategic alliance, paving the way for further negotiations and investment opportunities.
