The country’s Minister of Communications stressed that innovation plays an important role in the development of the global digital economy
Brazil has proposed making artificial intelligence (AI) technologies accessible to developing countries. This statement was made by the Minister of Communications of the Republic, Frederico de Siqueira Filho, at the G20 Digital Economy Working Group Ministerial Meeting, according to the official website of the country.
In his speech, he noted that Brazil seeks to reduce technological inequality.
“We are building infrastructure that connects people, businesses and the state. Our goal is that innovation should lead not only to economic growth but also to social justice,” he added.
Special attention was paid to the ethical aspects of AI. Brazil advocates for the widespread dissemination of new technologies, especially in the countries of the Global South. According to him, joint work by states will help “achieve the benefits of the digital economy for all more quickly.”
Plans include providing Internet access to certain regions of the republic and launching digital literacy courses for the population. These projects are part of the national plan for AI development. The country has also supported the G20 principles and UNESCO recommendations on the principles of using artificial intelligence.
The Group of Twenty brings together the world’s 19 largest economies and remains an important platform for developing global digital standards. Member countries account for around 85 per cent of global GDP and two-thirds of the world’s population.
