Brazil continues mass vaccination against COVID-19
The São Paulo Municipal Health Department (SMS) continues on Tuesday (9 August) to administer the first dose (D1), second dose (D2), additional dose (DA) and second additional dose (D4) of Covid-19 vaccines. TV CULTURA, a partner of the TV BRICS network, writes about this.
São Paulo State residents over 40 years of age with a high degree of immunosuppression are eligible for a third additional dose.
In the city of São Paulo itself, people aged 30 and over who were revaccinated at least four months ago can now get another dose. All highly immunosuppressed people aged 12 years and over and healthcare workers over 18 years are also eligible for D4.
In addition, adolescents aged 12-17 are eligible for an extra dose.
Children aged 5 to 11 years can be vaccinated against coronavirus with paediatric doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines or CoronaVac from the Butan Institute.
Children who have received the first dose of Pfizer can get a second vaccination after 8 weeks. Young children who have received CoronaVac must wait four weeks for a second dose.
The first dose can also be given to three- and four-year-old children with chronic illnesses or disabilities. The vaccine aimed at this part of the population is called CoronaVac.
More than 11 million people in São Paulo have already received at least two doses of the vaccine, 370,000 have received one dose, 8 million have received three doses and 3 million have received four doses.
