Brazil creates 1.48 million formal jobs in 2023
In 2023, 1 483,598 formal jobs were created in the South American country, according to the data from the New General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) published by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Over the past year (January to December), there were 23 257,812 hires and 21 774,214 layoffs.
The largest growth in formal employment in 2023 was in the services sector, with 886 256 jobs created. There were 276,528 vacancies in commerce, 158 940 in construction, 127 145 in industry, and 34 762 in agriculture.
The average salary was $2 037 (36 931 roubles).
Positive results were observed in all 27 states, especially in São Paulo (390 719 jobs, +3%), Rio de Janeiro (160 570 jobs, +4.7%) and Minas Gerais (140 836 jobs, +3.2%).
Regionally, the largest increases were in the South East (726 327), North East (298 188) and South (197 659).
The majority of jobs created in 2023 were male (840 740). Women took 642 892 new jobs. This is reported by Rede TV!, partner of TV BRICS.
