Brazil creates almost 1.5 million jobs in 2024

The services sector is the main creator of new jobs

In the first seven months of this year, Brazil has already created 1.49 million jobs, more than the 1.48 million created in the same period last year. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

The positive result in July 2024 was 188,000 new official vacancies, 32 per cent more than in the same month last year. The total number of people with an official contract reached 47 million, a record high for the country.

The largest number of new jobs opened in July this year was in the services sector, followed by manufacturing and trade.

In the services sector, job creation was in the information, communications and finance, real estate, professional and administrative activities segment, where 45,352 formal jobs were created. In the public administration, defence and social security, education, health and social services category, 11,102 jobs were created.

In industry, the manufacturing sector led the way with 45,803 more jobs. The water, sewerage, waste management and decontamination sector came second with 1,986 new jobs.

The majority of new job openings were recorded in the southeast of the country, with the city of Sao Paulo having the highest hiring rate.
