Brazil estimates grain production in 2022-2023 at more than 301 mln tons

This represents an increase of 14.5 per cent over the previous period

Brazil’s grain production will reach 310.9 million tons in the 2022-2023 cycle, a 14.5 per cent increase over the previous period, according to an estimate published by the National Supply Company (CONAB).

CONAB expects to produce 152.7 million tons of soybeans, Brazil’s main export product, which is nearing its end, 22.2 per cent higher than in 2021-2022.

For the three annual maize crops, the total is projected at 125.06 million tons, an increase of 10.5 per cent over the previous cycle.

Meanwhile, CONAB predicts a 9.3 per cent reduction in the area under rice, estimated at 1.5 million hectares, with a production of 10.4 million tons.

In addition, the total area of cultivation of pulses is expected to be reduced by 1.8 percent, to 2.96 million tons, according to CONAB.

The harvest of wheat is estimated at 9.8 million tons (a new record), as reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
