Brazil launches national programme to expand youth access to technical and higher education
The Brazilian Ministry of Education has unveiled a national initiative aimed at enhancing access to technical and higher education for students from public schools. This is reported by Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.
The initiative is designed to support public school students by offering preparatory courses and academic reinforcement activities to help them gain admission to federal institutes.
The main objective is to prepare students for the entrance exams of federal institutes, reducing educational inequalities and expanding opportunities for technical and professional education. The project aims to prepare approximately 78,000 ninth-grade students by 2027 to enter integrated technical courses in federal institutes. In 2025 alone, 26,000 places will be available for students in their final year of lower secondary education.
The programme will officially begin with the formation of 650 classes across the country, each accommodating 40 students per campus. By expanding access to high-quality technical and professional education, Brazil aims to equip young people with the skills necessary for a competitive job market while fostering greater social and economic inclusion across the country.
