Brazil to declare a national health emergency because of monkeypox
In connection with the upsurge in cases of monkeypox in Brazil and the declaration of an international emergency, Brazilian state health ministers have expressed concern over the spread of the disease, as reported by Metrópoles, a partner of TV BRICS.
On August 10, the National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS) sent a letter to Brazil's Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga requesting that the country declare a public health emergency (ESPIN) due to monkeypox.
According to Regulation No 7616/2011, the ESPIN declaration is valid in situations requiring the urgent application of measures to prevent, control and contain risks of damage and harm to public health.
