Brazilian authorities announce date and venue for BRICS Summit

According to the country’s Foreign Minister, significant decisions will be made at this meeting

Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira has announced that the BRICS Summit will take place on 6–7 July in Rio de Janeiro. The information was published on the website of Brazil’s BRICS presidency.

“It is a great pleasure to once again strengthen collaboration and partnership between the Federal Government and Rio de Janeiro. We will host Heads of State from the 20 countries that are part of the BRICS in the two categories of full members and partners. We will make very important decisions for development and cooperation and for improving the lives of all the inhabitants of these countries”

Mauro Vieira Brazilian Foreign Minister

Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor, Eduardo Paes, emphasised that this high-level meeting will further enhance the city’s international standing. He recalled that last year, Rio also hosted the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit, which brought together the leaders of the world's 20 largest economies, as reported by Metrópoles, a partner of TV BRICS.

Earlier, the Brazilian government outlined its priorities for the country's BRICS presidency, which include fostering cooperation across the Global South and strengthening partnerships for social development. The authorities intend to focus particularly on global health, trade and finance, climate change, artificial intelligence governance, reform of international security architecture, and institutional development.

The BRICS Summit will serve as the highlight of Brazil’s presidency, which will continue until 31 December 2025.
