Brazilian city signs memorandum of understanding with China's Nansha
The Brazilian city of Duque de Caxias has signed a memorandum of understanding and international cooperation with the Nansha district of Guangzhou, China. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Chinese Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, Tian Ming. This is reported by "Xinhua", a partner of the TV BRICS network.
Local cooperation between the two countries is an important part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil. The Consulate General of China in Rio de Janeiro is ready to continue to play the role of a bridge to foster friendly relations and cooperation between the large number of Brazilian cities in this consular area and Chinese cities, and to help further progress in the partnership between the PRC and Brazil.
The memorandum is aimed at cooperation between the two parties in the field of economy and trade, education, culture and tourism. On this occasion, Tian Ming stressed that cooperation between the countries is deepening within the framework of multilateral structures such as BRICS, the UN, the G20 and the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The mayor of Duque de Caxias, Wilson Reis, has expressed high hopes for cooperation with the Nansha district.
"Duque de Caxias will always welcome businessmen from China. We have a good relationship. I believe that both parties will benefit greatly from this exchange. Only in this way can we grow technologically, culturally and educationally," Reis said.
Duque de Caxias is the third largest city in the state of Rio de Janeiro and is home to an important maritime and land transport hub, with an excellent industrial base and great development potential. The city has long attached great importance to developing relations with China and opened a second Chinese-Brazilian bilingual school in Brazil earlier this year.
