Brazilian government announces US$277 billion for sustainable urban development in partnership with the private sector

Aims to restructure Brazilian cities through projects focused on sustainable mobility, housing, basic sanitation and green infrastructure

This policy phase aims to channel about R$1.6 trillion (US$277 billion) by 2029 to restructure Brazilian cities through projects focused on sustainable mobility, housing, basic sanitation and green infrastructure.

The majority of these funds, 75 per cent, will come from the private sector, strengthening the partnership between the government and the private sector for the sustainable development of the country. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

In addition to mobility and renewable energy development, it is proposed to build two million homes under the Minha Casa Minha Vida ("My House My Life") programme by 2026, 500,000 of which will be equipped with solar panels.

By 2033, 6.9 million homes are planned, of which 1.4 million will be equipped with photovoltaic panels. These targets, as announced, aim to create sustainable housing infrastructure, reduce environmental impact.
