BRICS Plus Summit meeting opens
The BRICS Plus Summit meeting opened in Beijing on Friday, 24 June.
The theme of the meeting is "Strengthening the partnership for global development in a new era to jointly implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." This is according to the website of the President of Russia.
In addition to the representatives of the BRICS countries (Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Brazilian Vice President Amilton Mourao), the BRICS Plus dialogue also includes Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebbun, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, Egyptian President Abdelfattah Sisi, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yacob, Senegalese President Macky Sall, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-Ocha, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Fijian Prime Minister Voreke Bainimarama and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The leaders of the 18 countries will discuss the prospects for BRICS expansion. The politicians will consider the future trajectories of the BRICS Plus format.
