BRICS regional headquarters to be opened in CAR capital
The regional headquarters of the BRICS alliance will be established as soon as possible in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR). This was reported by TASS, citing the words of the BRICS representative in Central and West Africa, Hua Don Mello, on the air of the Ndeke Luka radio station.
He noted that the city has the potential to become the BRICS capital for all of Central Africa. He added that the priority for now is to develop a programme of capital investments and cooperation between the CAR and the countries of the region and BRICS.
According to Hua Don Mello, its main provisions will soon be prepared by the CAR government for subsequent agreement with the BRICS group. Energy is expected to be a fundamental element of the programme. As the BRICS representative noted, industry and services are directly linked to it.
Recall that the BRICS delegation was received by Central African President Faustin-Archange Touadéra on 21 November. The meeting discussed the region's close engagement with the BRICS group.
In recent years, the BRICS grouping has sought to expand and thereby increase its dominance on the world stage. The BRICS member states intend to agree soon on the criteria and principles for potential expansion of the bloc. Argentina, Algeria and Iran intend to become part of the alliance, while Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have also announced plans to join the block.
