The second conference on sustainable development Global Impact Conference 2021 (GIC 2021) was held on December 1 in an online format. The conference was held with the support of Rosatom, Europe's leading news channel Euronews, UN Global Compact and digital partner VK.
More than 50 authoritative experts from 30 countries took part in the work of GIC 2021, including representatives of government authorities, international organizations, corporations, NGOs, development institutions and local expert communities. The event was moderated by the virtual host Jay, endowed with artificial intelligence.
Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev introduced the role of the conference in terms of finding solutions for sustainable development as follwowing: “The Glasgow Climate Change Conference has shown that in the situation with covid-19 and the environmental crisis, leadership and a willingness to seek solutions to problems are especially evident. However,thereal progress is onlypossible in a situation where each of us will take the leadership, as the conference experts do. The proper combination of ambition and skill can change the world.”
Participants shared practical cases on the following topics:
- Accessibility development in urban environment and digitalization of agriculture;
- Business strategies for preserving the planet's biodiversity and combating global warming;
- Practices for the integration of employees of different age and with different values as a mean of response to the personnel crisis;
- Designing cities of the future and sustainable transport infrastructure.
- Human-centered HR practices from leading companies.
Linn Caldas, lead mental health professional at Spotify Sweden, has built an international team of mental health experts, Heart & Soul ambassadors, who work to support the mental health of employees in their companies and organizations around the world: “The covid-19 pandemic and the disturbance it caused have led to a global mental health crisis. Companies quickly realized the importance of creating a safe environment in which employees’ mental health is maintained. However, to establish such an environment, it takes a fundamental change in how workplaces are organized, as well as to increase awareness and additional education for the people who do the job.”
“Addressing the issue of mental health at work and changing corporate culture accordingly has become and will remain a must for maintaining a sustainable workforce in any organization,” she added.
Nora Berra, Global Health Alliance President from France, described how the work of her team contributed to the accessibilty of health services for the most vulnerable people in remote South African provinces: “The two-year covid-19 crisis has taken a toll on everyone, even the most advanced health systems, revealing deep inequalities. Nevertheless, we saw how in the modern global world all countries are interconnected and interdependent. It is expected that in case of a crisis the whole world has shown the highest degree of solidarity and readiness for joint solutions, especially when it comes to the poorest countries. This has become a real catalyst for innovation in the field of patient care, access to education, and digital services. It is time to formulate a new joint course in global health around the world through the partnership of innovative public and private enterprises and civil society."
These and other cases and international practices will form the basis of the Global Impact Conference case library, the materials of which will be available to people around the world. To view all the cases, follow the link.
