China and Brazil intend to take bilateral relations to new level

Interaction between Brasilia and Beijing plays an important role in international stability


Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with Brazilian Presidential Adviser Celso Amorim. This is reported by CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

The talks were held in St. Petersburg on the margins of the meeting of high representatives of the BRICS and BRICS+ states in charge of security issues.

The parties discussed the development of relations between Brasilia and Beijing, including in the format of strategic partnership.

The Chinese Foreign Minister recalled that China and Brazil, as leading developing countries, play an important role in maintaining global stability and development.

"China is willing to further develop strategic partnership with Brazil, strengthen mutual trust and expand mutually beneficial co-operation"

For his part, Celso Amorim reaffirmed Brazil's commitment to developing close ties and effective cooperation with the PRC.

"We are keen to work together with China to further develop bilateral relations and take them to a new, more advanced level"

The meeting of high representatives of the BRICS and BRICS+ states in charge of security issues is taking place within the framework of Russia's chairmanship in the association. Delegations from about 20 countries are taking part in the event.
