China finishes second at the Paris Olympics

Chinese athletes performed well at the Olympic Games in Paris and took second place in the team standings. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Chinese team set a record in swimming and took the first gold in singles big tennis.

The athletes won a total of 91 medals. Of these, 40 were gold, 27 silver and 24 bronze. More than half of the awards went to such sports as diving, table tennis, badminton, gymnastics, shooting and weightlifting.

The number of gold medals was also a record for China. The Celestial team surpassed its performance at the 2012 London Olympics, when 39 top honours were won.

The closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games was held on 11 August.
