China prepares for hydrogen energy rise through policy and infrastructure expansion

China is set to become a global powerhouse in hydrogen energy, spurred by robust government policies and declining renewable energy costs.

Industry experts highlight the nation’s aggressive push to develop hydrogen infrastructure and its commitment to clean energy transformation, as reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

By the end of 2025, China aims to deploy approximately 45,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, doubling the current count of 22,790 vehicles. This growth is underpinned by over 20 national policies introduced in 2024, targeting areas such as technological innovation, infrastructure expansion, and equipment upgrades.

Transportation remains the leading sector for hydrogen adoption, with further expansion into industrial, power, and construction applications.

As a versatile and low-carbon energy source, hydrogen is poised to reshape China’s energy landscape, propelling the nation toward global leadership in clean energy innovation, the source claims.
