China's agricultural product prices edge down
The wholesale prices of China's agricultural products edged down on Friday, data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed.
By 2 p.m. Friday, the average wholesale price of pork, China's staple meat, went down 1.1 percent from Thursday to 29.21 yuan (about 4.33 U.S. dollars) per kg, while that of eggs stood at 10.41 yuan per kg, down 0.1 percent.
The average wholesale price of 28 key types of vegetables tracked by the government declined 0.4 per cent to 4.57 yuan per kg, while that of six key types of fruit decreased by 0.7 per cent to 6.7 yuan per kg.
China's consumer price index, a main gauge of inflation, rose 2.7 per cent year on year in July, while food prices went up 3 percent from the previous month in the period, as reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
