China simplifies railway ticket purchase system for foreigners
China will provide foreign travellers with more convenient services for using rail travel, including the ability to buy tickets online and self-register.
The decision comes after the country launched a new version of the Permanent Foreign Resident Identity Card. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Cardholders will enjoy the same self-service and online services as individuals from China. Furthermore, authorities have introduced an online identity verification service specifically for foreign travelers.
Previously, foreign passengers purchasing tickets through China's official railway ticket booking website were required to present their passport at ticket offices in railway stations as proof of identity.
