Chinese investment in Egypt surpasses US$10 billion as economic partnership expands

Egypt and China step up cooperation across strategic industries, with new investment projects expected to accelerate industrial development, technology transfer and sustainable economic growth

Chinese investment in Egypt has exceeded US$10 billion, marking a significant milestone in the rapidly expanding economic partnership between the two countries as officials seek to unlock new opportunities across strategic industries, as reported by Daily News Egypt, a TV BRICS partner.

The announcement came during a government meeting reviewing progress under the Egypt–China comprehensive strategic partnership and identifying new investment initiatives designed to strengthen long-term economic cooperation.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the investment milestone reflects growing confidence among Chinese investors in Egypt's business environment and reinforces the country's position as a regional destination for international capital and industrial development.

Officials reviewed a pipeline of proposed projects spanning multiple priority sectors, including industrial manufacturing, transport, telecommunications, mining, clean energy, agriculture, engineering industries, advanced technology and water infrastructure.

The planned initiatives are expected to support Egypt's broader economic development strategy by increasing local manufacturing capacity, encouraging technology transfer, expanding export opportunities and creating additional employment.

Government representatives also assessed progress on existing bilateral projects while discussing new mechanisms to strengthen institutional cooperation and accelerate implementation across strategic sectors.

Analysts note that the continued growth of Chinese investment reflects strengthening economic ties between Cairo and Beijing, as both countries pursue deeper collaboration in industrial development, innovation and sustainable growth. The latest investment figures position China among Egypt's most significant long-term economic partners and highlight the increasing importance of bilateral cooperation in supporting regional development.
