Daria Da Conceição's documentary will have its world premiere at MIFF
The world premiere of Daria Da Conceição's documentary film will take place at the Oktyabr cinema at the 44th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) on Thursday, 1 September, at 15:00. "Black to USSR" opens a multi-part film epic about the African-Russian dialogue.
The Black to USSR project started in January 2022. Its heroes are Soviet graduates from South Africa and Mozambique: doctors, entrepreneurs and politicians.
One of the main characters of the film was the closest associate of Nelson Mandela, a friend of Angela Davis, an entrepreneur with a bright political destiny, a member of the FIFA Board of Trustees - Gabriel Massimo Tokyo Sexvale, who was also trained in the USSR as a military engineer.
The author's intent is a natural extension of a personal Russian-African family history.
The film was written, directed and produced by Daria Da Conceição, a graduate of the Nikita Mikhalkov Academy. She was born in Leningrad, her mother is Russian and her father is Mozambican. Daria's mother is a social activist and head of the Russian House cultural community, and her father is a military doctor, a graduate of the Kirov Military Medical Academy. Her father is a military doctor, a graduate of the Kirov Military Medical Academy and the first medical institute in Leningrad.
The "Black to USSR" project is not just a film study about Russia and Africa, but a sincere offering to two native cultures for the author of the film.
Ambassadors from South Africa, Mozambique and Somalia, as well as representatives of the African Diaspora in Russia, are scheduled to attend the premiere screening as part of the 44th Moscow International Film Festival. This is announced on the festival's official website.
