Dengue cases in Brazil increase by 40% in just three weeks
Data from the latest epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry of Health show that compared to the first four months of 2021, the number of reported cases of dengue has increased by more than 150%. By the first week of May, the number of infections jumped from 542,000 to more than 757,000.
there were 544,000 cases in Brazil throughout the entire last year. The dengue outbreak has also resulted in 265 deaths. The states with the most deaths were São Paulo (99), Santa Catarina (28), Goiás (28) and Bahia (22).

InfoDengue coordinator Claudia Codeso believes that the increase in cases could be due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic or the rainy season in early 2022.
The Ministry of Health reported that it has organised several training courses on clinical management and diagnosis of arboviruses for specialists from states and municipalities who work in the field to combat these diseases.
