Domed house appeared in Russia in permafrost
In December, an unusual housewarming party took place not far from Yakutsk: a young family moved tothe house with a dome. But new settlers will live in it only until the summer of 2020. The experimental house will be monitored by scientists. And the inhabitants will keep a diary, the correspondent of tvbrics.com reports.
It was told about domed cities in the Far North in many fantasy novels or stories. And now this is becoming a reality. So far, only one house was placed under the dome. North-Eastern Federal University and one of the companies working in the field of high technologies decided to test the effectiveness of dome structures in Yakutia.
The domed house is wooden. Its area is 128 square meters, there is a built-in garage. Innovative technologies provide the house with energy from alternative sources, and the smart home is packed full of all sorts of sensors. And the residents of the experimental house will also be paid an allowance.
During the whole winter, scientists will conduct research there. The inhabitants, the house and the structure will be monitored by various specialists: geologists, climatologists, builders, heat engineers, power engineers, doctors, and psychologists.
"Everything is interesting. How the permafrost will be under the dome, what kind of microclimate will be there, whether such a shelter will be effective in terms of energy saving, even how to deal with the inevitable kurzhak (frost, condensate -rare) in 40-degree frosts... and, of course, it is important how comfortable (or vice versa) such a life will be for people, how it will affect their health, " said Dmitry Filippov, the Project Manager, Dean of the Road Faculty of NEFU.
Further, dome technologies in the permafrost zone will be used on large facilities if the experiment with the house turns out to be successful.
