Egypt emphasises the need to invest in culture

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Culture Minister Ahmed Hanno to discuss a proposed vision aimed at boosting cultural investment in the country.

The vision involves utilising Egypt's rich cultural heritage and creative industries for economic and social benefits, which will contribute to sustainable development and human capital formation. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Prime Minister emphasised the need to increase the number of cultural and artistic activities across the country to help young people feel a stronger connection to national identity.

Minister Hanno clarified that the ministry's vision for cultural investment is in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, who prioritises the development of human capital. 

“The model we aim to achieve for cultural investment is based on a strong partnership between the government, the private sector, and civil society,” said Hanno. “We have set general goals, including developing financing and marketing mechanisms, and promoting cultural investment in its broadest sense.”

The proposed vision includes plans to improve Egypt's image as a global centre for culture and the arts, increase jobs through cultural and creative entrepreneurship programmes, and increase the creative sector's contribution to the country's GDP.
