The Egyptian leader turns 70

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi celebrates his birthday on 19 November 2024, according to the official website of the Egyptian Presidency.

Born in the city of Cairo in 1954, Egypt's top leader held a number of prominent positions throughout his career, including heading his country's Ministry of Defence in 2012 and as chairman of the African Union (AU) in 2019-2020.

He assumed the presidency of Egypt in 2014 and has since pushed for development projects, with Egypt being considered a strategic point for global trade, according to the New Development Bank (NBD).

The Egyptian nation's president is in Brazil on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, which takes place on 18-19 November, where he has already discussed regional and global issues, in addition to signing a joint statement for a strategic partnership with Brazil.
