Ethiopia and China forge stronger ties with new tourism cooperation agreement

The agreement is expected to leverage the tourism assets of both countries, contributing to their socio-economic development

Ethiopia and China have signed a bilateral agreement to enhance their collaboration in the tourism sector, further strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two nations. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The agreement was signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa and Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai, focusing on tourism development, wildlife protection, and cultural exchange.

Minister Selamawit Kassa emphasised Ethiopia’s rich heritage, highlighting its UNESCO-listed sites and the country’s strides in expanding tourism infrastructure as part of its homegrown economic reform.

The minister also underscored the historical partnership between Ethiopia and China, which extends beyond tourism to include hospitality, fashion, construction, and cultural collaboration. She described the agreement as a crucial step towards deepening ties in the tourism industry, aligning with Ethiopia’s broader economic objectives.

Chinese Ambassador Chen Hai echoed these sentiments, celebrating the shared history and cultural richness of the two ancient civilisations. Chen also reaffirmed China’s commitment to bolstering joint initiatives.

The agreement is expected to leverage the tourism assets of both countries, contributing to their socio-economic development and fostering deeper cultural understanding.
