Ethiopia and China sign agreement on technical and vocational training to empower the labour force

The initiative seeks to enhance Ethiopia’s integration into the Belt and Road Initiative

Ethiopia has taken a new step towards advancing its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China. The announcement was made by Ethiopia's Minister of Labour and Skills, Muferihat Kamil.

Highlighting the milestone, Muferihat explained that the agreement was formalised during the World Technical and Vocational Development Conference in collaboration with China’s Ministry of Education. This is reported by the Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), a partner of TV BRICS.

The agreement aims to boost economic and social progress in Ethiopia by equipping citizens with practical skills and fostering deeper people-to-people ties. The initiative also seeks to enhance Ethiopia’s integration into the Belt and Road Initiative, fortifying China-Africa relations for shared growth and prosperity.

According to the source, this partnership underscores Ethiopia’s commitment to leveraging international cooperation for sustainable development while positioning TVET as a cornerstone for empowering its workforce and strengthening bilateral relations.
