Ethiopia to launch six-month nationwide campaign to combat pollution
Ethiopia is set to roll out a six-month national pollution prevention campaign aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and public awareness, according to Lelise Neme, Director General of the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority.
The campaign, themed “Making cleaning and greening Ethiopia a culture,” will focus on educating the public about various forms of pollution and the necessary preventive measures. This is reported by Fana Media Corporation, a partner of TV BRICS.
A key objective of the campaign is to enhance compliance with environmental regulations, particularly regarding plastic waste management. Lelise stressed that both producers and consumers of recyclable plastics must adhere to legal frameworks aimed at curbing plastic pollution.
The director general also highlighted the need for better waste disposal practices across communities and institutions to mitigate the impact of solid and hazardous waste.
