Ethiopian President Taye Atske Selassie emphasises country's progress in food security
During a reception for participants of the ongoing "World Without Hunger Conference" in Addis Ababa, President Taye Atske Selassie said Ethiopia is making significant progress in achieving food self-sufficiency and enhancing food security.
President Taye praised the government's successful wheat initiatives, which have made Ethiopia self-sufficient in wheat production and enabled Ethiopia to export surplus crops. The President thanked Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for his effective leadership and support for the development of agriculture in Ethiopia.
Emphasising the importance of cooperation, President Taye called on African governments and the private sector to partner in increasing agricultural productivity and promoting sustainable development. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Jointly organised by UNIDO, the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Government of Ethiopia, the conference brought together more than 1,500 high-level participants from various sectors, united by the desire to address global food insecurity.
