Ethiopian Prime Minister highlights growth in tourism industry

Tourism initiatives are boosting the country's sector

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed noted the significant growth of the tourism industry due to the favourable environment created by various government initiatives.

Addressing members of parliament, the prime minister added that key projects such as "Dine for Ethiopia", corridor development and other government initiatives are transforming the country's tourism ecosystem.

He stressed that such projects have created a conducive atmosphere for the development of the tourism sector and the importance of supporting ongoing initiatives to further promote them. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

In the past three months, the country has hosted 20 international conferences – a significant increase on the previous year. This increase in conference tourism is considered an important part of the overall strategy in this field.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in achieving the projected growth of 7.1 per cent in the services sector.

Earlier, Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mesganu Arega, highlighted ongoing efforts to expand and improve tourist destinations, citing new developments over the past six years as key initiatives to boost the industry.
