"Father Frost and Summer" - Unusual Coins Introduced into Circulation in Russia
The Bank of Russia started production of unusual commemorative coins "Father Frost and Summer". "Fairytale" coins came into use on November 5, being a part of the Russian (Soviet) Animation series, reports a tvbrics.com correspondent with the reference to cbr.ru.
New Year money "Father Frost and Summer" have three designs: a silver 3-ruble coin in 3 thousand copies, colored and regular basic-metal 25-ruble coins in 50 thousand and 450 thousand copies, respectively.
To recap, to this day, the Russian (Soviet) Animation series has included coins depicting the characters of such animated films as "Well, Just You Wait!", "Winnie-the-Pooh", "The Three Bogatyrs" and "The Town Musicians of Bremen".
It should be noted that the Central Bank also releases a silver coin Rostekhnadzor for the anniversary of the Berg Board established in the 18th century under Peter I's decree.
"Due to the 300th Anniversary of Peter I’s signing of the decree on the establishment of the Berg Board, the Bank of Russia releases a silver coin Rostekhnadzor at the value of 1 ruble. It has an emblem of Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision on it. The coin was made in 3000 copies", said specialists of the press service of the Central Bank.
