Film Dostoevsky Intercontinental enters competition programme of RapidLion International Film Festival
A film by the united editorial team of TV BRICS Media Network, Dostoevsky Intercontinental, will be presented in competition at the RapidLion International Film Festival. The event will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 4 to 11 March.
"We are extremely proud and honoured to have Dostoyevsky Intercontinental screening at RapidLion 2023. We are especially happy about this because the film takes the viewer through the understandings of this important Russian and International man of letters by people from the first country members of the BRICS block, a block that is growing in importance at a tremendous pace, and a block we set up this film festival to serve," said Eric Miyeni, festival director.
The film Dostoevsky Intercontinental, which has been selected for the South African Film Festival, shows the relevance of the classic and his creative and philosophical legacy to the international community. China Global Television Network (CGTN); Brazilian media conglomerate Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação; Moja Media holding (South Africa); regional broadcaster Malai Murasu TV (India) and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai (India) took part in the production of the film.
The Russian partner in the production of the film is the TV channel "Prodvizheniye".
The RapidLion Film Festival for the first time took place in 2015 at The Historic Market Theatre, where it has been held every year since. The festival pays special attention to feature films from BRICS countries.
The event includes an awards ceremony for winners in various categories. The authors of the best works are awarded by RapidLion, a platinum-plated statuette whose design is based on an ancient African symbol of perfection with a lioness on top. The organisers explain their choice of material by the fact that most of the world's reserves of this metal are found in the country.
