Zero Plus International Film Festival shows films from 29 countries

As part of the event, the forum "Cinematic Pedagogy. BRICS+" will also be held

On September 29, the 11th Zero Plus International Film Festival began in Tyumen. The competition programme features 87 films from 29 countries, including India, Iran, China, and Colombia. The TV BRICS International Media Network is the international information partner for the event.

At the festival's opening ceremony, which took place on September 30 at the Palace of Culture "Neftyanik," the audience not only attended film screenings but also enjoyed a concert featuring singers and dancers.

The film festival's programme is packed with various workshops and interactive sessions. Participants will experience several educational projects, including a choreographic "Film Dance Workshop," a "Film Dubbing Workshop," performances, and film screenings. Additionally, there is the art exhibition "Three Worlds" and the interactive display "City of Cinema," where visitors can immerse themselves in the film production process.

The jury of the international competition includes representatives from the film industry in Russia, India, South Africa, Iran, and other countries. A special feature of the festival is the creative meetings and masterclasses conducted by the jury members.

Furthermore, on October 3, there will be screenings of animated and documentary films by TV BRICS. From 11:30 to 13:00 in the amphitheatre of the I. Y. Slovtsov Museum Complex, a special children's programme will be presented. Young viewers will see films such as "The Adventures of Tita" (2022, Brazil, directed by Eduardo Padrao), "Alan from Patagonia" (2022, Argentina, directed by Dante di Giovanni), "Rosarito and her Magic Boards" (2022, Argentina, directed by Hebe Estrabou), and "Everyone Has an Angel" (2023, Brazil, directed by Nail Armstrong).

In the afternoon, from 16:00 to 17:40, two documentary films dedicated to the cultural diversity of BRICS countries will be shown in the museum complex's columned hall. The programme will include a TV BRICS production about the cold expanses of Russia's Far North, "The Golden Coast of the Arctic" (2023, directed by  Andrey Porschnyak, authored by Ksenia Komissarova), and a film about the history of calligraphy art, "Noqte" (2020, Iran, directed by Emir Valinezhad).

Moreover, the 7th International Forum "Cinematic Pedagogy" is taking place as part of the festival, gathering educators, filmmakers, and cultural specialists from BRICS+ countries. The event is dedicated to discussing current trends in the film industry and media education, as well as fostering international cooperation in this field.

"Experts from around the world will work together to create a unified platform for the development and promotion of cinematic pedagogy. Such a system will facilitate educational and cultural exchange. <…> The emergence of the platform could become a significant event during Russia's BRICS presidency," noted Nikolay Dann, Director of the Zero Plus International Film Festival.

The Institute for the Development of Cinema and Media and the Development of Creativity Fond "Life and Deed." The event is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Fundation for Cultural Initiatives, the Presidential Grant Foundation, the Government of the Tyumen Region, the Tyumen City Administration, the TV BRICS International Media Network, and others.
