First film of TV BRICS "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" won the film festival in South Africa
On Saturday, 26 November, the results of the Ekurhuleni International Film Festival (EIFF), South Africa were summed up. The ceremony, which took place at the Dumisani Masilela Theatre, was attended by 250 delegates from film and television companies.
The first large-scale documentary project of TV BRICS joint editorial office "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" was recognized as the best in two prestigious categories at the film festival: "Best Documentary" and "Best Director" (Ivan Zakharenko). Nominees from 44 countries reached the final.
The winner in the nomination "Best Ekurhuleni" was the film "A night of fate" directed by Mkhomazi Mashinini (South Africa). The award for "Best South African Film" went to the short film "The Note", directed by Lungelo Kuzwayo.
This year the EIFF received 3,000 entries, including the entries from the BRICS countries: 73 (South Africa), 259 (China), 9 (Russia) and 189 (India). In total, there are 21 winners in the festival, including representatives from Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Iran, Italy, Turkey, Israel and Croatia.
The film of TV BRICS joint editorial office "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" is dedicated to the anniversary of F.M. Dostoevsky. Media companies, partners of the network from five countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), took part in the creation of the documentary.
"Dostoevsky Intercontinental" draws the viewers' attention to the national accents of the interpretation of the writer's philosophy in the BRICS countries.
The film won the Grand Prix at the I International Film Festival “Date with Russia. Territory of National Unity”, and was also recognized as the best documentary film at the IV Innovative International Film Festival in India, in Bangalore.
The objective of the Ekurhuleni International Film Festival is to empower aspiring local and international filmmakers. It will provide filmmaking skills and create opportunities for networking with local and international broadcasters.
