G20 Education Working Group discusses the future of work and innovation
Delegates of the G20 Working Group on Education on Wednesday, 15 March, discussed the future of innovation at a seminar with a focus on developing linkages among countries for equitable development.
The workshop on 'Strengthening Research and Promoting Innovation through Richer Collaboration' took place at Khalsa College Amritsar in Amritsar, India. The business event focused on bridging the gap between government, academia and industry to develop solutions for global issues.
The first panel 'Research in Emerging and Disruptive Technologies, Industry -4.0', moderated by Prof Anil Gupta, brought together participants from Australia, France, India and UK, who shared their insights on the role of various interested parties in promoting research on emerging innovations, their impact on education systems and society in general.
The second panel, 'Research in Sustainable Development Goals', chaired by Prof Shalini Bharat with participants from China, Oman, South Africa, UAE and UNICEF, focused on strengthening the capacity of universities as the core of research.
The seminar was concluded with a speech by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, as reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
As part of the G20 decision-making process, working groups composed of experts and officials from relevant ministries conduct in-depth analysis and discussions on a range of internationally relevant issues in relevant areas.
The Education Working Group (EdWG) was established in 2018 during the Argentinean Presidency. The EdWG focuses on strengthening learning outcomes and equitable access through technology tools, digitalization, universal quality education, financing, education partnerships and international cooperation. The EdWG also collaborates with Employment and other WGs to address cross-cutting issues such as skills development and school-to-work transitions.
