Heads of Brazil's three branches of government sign agreement to initiate ecological transformation

The pact aims to promote sustainable development, environmental protection and the interests of future generations

The heads of Brazil's executive, legislative and judicial branches signed the State Pact for Environmental Transformation. The event was attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the presidents of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco; the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, and Luis Roberto Barroso, President of the Federal Supreme Court, and authorities.

The aim of the pact is to promote sustainable development, environmental protection and the rights of future generations. The event is reported by Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

"The pact we are signing today symbolises the determination of each of us to tackle the greatest challenges of our time, with the depth and urgency that the climate crisis demands"

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva President of Brazil

The treaty includes 26 initiatives divided into three areas: territorial planning, energy transition and sustainable development.

The Brazilian executive branch will increase funding and reduce the cost of credit for sustainable sectors, projects and practices. The legislature will commit to drawing up a legislative framework for a carbon market and offshore wind power generation. The judiciary will expedite cases related to the environment and climate in Brazil.

The pact also provides for the integration of databases and the adoption of environmental preservation measures. By signing the pact, the heads of the three branches of the Brazilian government expressed Brazil's willingness to face the challenges of the climate issue and to become a leader in environmental protection and sustainable development.
