Heads of Supreme Courts of BRICS countries express their intention to learn from experience of their Russian colleagues

The Supreme Courts of the BRICS countries at the Forum of Presidents of Supreme Courts of the BRICS countries expressed their intention to adopt the experience of their Russian colleagues in the field of digitalisation of the judicial system and formation of uniform judicial practice, the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) reports.

On the margins of the forum, Irina Podnosova, President of the Supreme Court of Russia, held meetings with heads of the highest judicial instances from China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, UAE and Belarus.

The participants of the meetings came to a conclusion on the relevance of the application of high technologies in judicial proceedings, a unified approach to the interpretation of legislation, as well as the need to optimise staff training. Representatives of the Supreme Courts of foreign countries expressed their desire to implement Russian developments in these areas.

Zhang Jun, President of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of the People's Republic of China, said that cooperation between Russia and China is currently accompanied by rapid development of relations in the economic and humanitarian spheres.

"This partnership is of great significance for our lawmaking," the head of China's SPC added.

The President of the Supreme Court of Ethiopia, Tewodros Mihret, noted that the African country has started using IT technologies in the judicial system. "We will gladly take into account your experience in digitalisation and training," he said.

With Valentin Sukalo, head of the Supreme Court of Belarus, Irina Podnosova discussed the nuances of the republic's possible accession to BRICS, the relationship between economic development and judicial practice, as well as the peculiarities of the Belarusian bankruptcy law.
