India and Cuba step up cooperation on digital transformation
India and Cuba have agreed to cooperate on digital transformation after a meeting between Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Alkesh Kumar Sharma and Deputy Communications Minister Griseli Reyes.
An official from the Caribbean country, who is in India at the head of a specialist delegation, told that representatives from both countries have identified important areas for cooperation for digital transformation, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to Reyes, among other initiatives, the parties intend to share open-source platforms for public services, training and education projects in emerging technologies, and the creation of a high-performance computing centre.
"It was a fruitful exchange of views that will undoubtedly lead to stronger relations between the two countries in the information and communication technology sector," she said.
The Deputy Minister of Communications of Cuba and accompanying experts also met with the board of directors of the National Association of Software and Services Companies of India.
Earlier, at a forum in New Delhi hosted by the Economic Trade Organisation of India at the headquarters of the South Asian Federation of Exporters, the Cuban official pointed to opportunities for companies from the two countries to work together to enter the Latin American technology market.
Among the areas of mutual interest are artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain and other sectors in which both sides could easily establish links.
The Cuban delegation also attends INDIASOFT 2023, the international information and communications technology exhibition and conference, which is a meeting point for Indian technology developers and consumers from around the world.
Regarded as the largest technology event, the forum was attended by delegates from more than 60 countries and attracted 1,500 exhibitors from electronics, hardware and national information technology sectors.
