India and Ethiopia deepen health cooperation

The two sides discussed opportunities for Ethiopian students to study at Indian universities

Ethiopia's Minister of Health, Mekdes Daba, met with an Indian delegation led by Anil Kumar Rai, Ambassador of India and African Union representative in Ethiopia, to discuss opportunities to strengthen health cooperation between the two countries. This is reported by Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), a partner of TV BRICS.

Minister Daba emphasised the importance of the existing partnership between Ethiopia and India in the health sector and expressed her desire to develop it further. She encouraged Indian companies to invest in Ethiopia and participate in the production of medical equipment and consumables domestically to reduce dependence on imports.

Ambassador Rai reiterated India's commitment to developing the capacity of Ethiopia's health care system, including providing training opportunities for Ethiopian students in Indian universities. He also expressed India's willingness to support Indian companies to set up businesses in Ethiopia to manufacture medical equipment, consumables, and medicines.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, including health.
