India creates its own deep-sea mission

This project will help to strengthen the economy of the nation

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh, announced on Sunday that India will become the sixth nation to have its own deep-sea mission, which has the potential to significantly boost overall economic growth. This is reported by IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.

The source claims that in addition to mineral exploration, other goals include the advancement of maritime sciences, the conservation of marine biodiversity, and the study of flora and fauna.

The Indian Minister emphasised the wide range of effects this mission will have on deep-sea research, rare earth metal commercial exploitation, biodiversity, and the search and discovery of metals and polymetallic nodules at the bottom of the Indian Sea.

The source also emphasizes that Indian institutions plan to focus on creating a sustainable blue economy to enable people who depend on the ocean and its energy to earn a living.
